
Alican Kocabalkan
Alican Kocabalkan completed his undergraduate studies (BA) in the Department of Psychology at Istanbul Bilgi University and his master's degree (MSc) in Health Psychology at the University of Surrey, UK. He published his thesis, "Nurses' Experiences of Breaking Bad News: An Interpretive Phenomenological Analysis," in the Journal of Psychological Counseling and Education in 2015, with a Turkish adaptation.
He completed the "Foundation Stage" module of his training at the Istanbul Psychodrama Association. He completed his Psychodynamic Psychotherapy Training at the Florida Psychoanalysis Center in the USA in 2025.
In addition to his studies in psychology, he has played professional level basketball and participated for the Turkish national youth teams in various age categories. He received his Category C basketball coaching certificate in 2012. He provides psychological counseling and training for athletes.
He has been actively involved in the Autistics Association since 2012 and is currently the Alternative Development Programs supervisor.
Since 2013, he has been working with children, adolescents, and adults at Aura Psychotherapy, Art Therapy, and Education Center, using a psychodynamic approach. He works in both Turkish and English.
